When Carey Price was pulled at home against the San Jose Sharks after the Montreal Canadiens fell behind 4-0 Friday night, he was noticeably upset and much attention was paid to the “glare” he gave to head coach Michel Therrien on his way out.
The episode drew (we assume) tongue-in-cheek comparisons to the infamous Patrick Roy meltdown that led to the legendary goalie’s trade out of Montreal.

It was the first time Price had been pulled in a game for non-injury reasons since October of 2014.
But fear not Habs fans, there is no controversy brewing here. After the game, which Montreal ended up losing 4-2, Michel Therrien named Price the starter for Saturday’s game against the Washington Capitals.
After Price was pulled, he headed down the hall and took a few minutes before returning to his seat where he remained for the rest of the second period. He was not on the bench during the third period.
Price declined to speak to the media after the game. For what it’s worth, none of the players nor the coach said they saw the “stare down.”
Braden Holtby is expected to start for the Capitals on Washington.
