Gwen Stefani is not willing to commit to a long-term relationship with Blake Shelton, at least not yet.
An inside source told Radar Online that Shelton recently proposed to Stefani after their six month anniversary. Despite receiving a very large engagement ring, Stefani rejected Shelton’s proposal.
“Gwen was very touched, but said she had to wait to make sure it was right for the kids,” the source revealed.
At the same time, Stefani is also unsure about the difference in their age.
“Gwen fears their age will get in the way of long-term happiness,” the source stated. “She’s 14-years older than Blake’s ex-wife, Miranda Lambert!”
Apart from her reservations about Shelton, Stefani isn’t quite over her divorce from Gavin Rossdale. In fact, the singer is hesitant to marry again because she fears another betrayal.
“Gwen wants to trust Blake, but she fears it could come back and bite her,” the insider added.
Although Stefani’s romance with Shelton is still going strong following their collaboration on his latest album, Stefani knows that the country crooner wants a family of his own. Unfortunately, the source revealed that Stefani now realizes that “the time may have passed for her to have another baby.”
“She’s worried Blake won’t be happy in a marriage where he might never be a father,” the source stated.
That being said, the reported marriage proposal has not been officially confirmed by neither Shelton or Stefani.
According to Movie News Guide, this is not the first time marriage rumors have surfaced concerning The Voice stars. Not only have the two battled such rumors in the past, but there is no indication that Shelton actually proposed to Gwen Stefani.
A few months back, Shelton and Stefani fought similar rumors that they were getting married. In those reports, however, Stefani was the one who proposed to Shelton, and she did it right before the Kids Choice Awards.
Of course, those rumors have since been proven false. Considering how Shelton and Stefani have yet to announce any plans to wed, it is unclear if the latest proposal rumors are true.
For his part, Shelton is more than happy with how things have turned out with Stefani. In fact, the country star recently sat down with People and explained how his life was at a low point after his divorce with Lambert.
“This time last year, there was no light at the end of the tunnel for me personally,” Shelton admitted. “There was a point there where I thought I didn’t even want to exist anymore. I told people I wished I could go into a coma and wake up a year from now.”
Shelton and Lambert were married for four years. They were involved in a relationship with each other for 10 years, before splitting last summer amidst rumors of her infidelity.
Fortunately, Shelton started dating Stefani a few months after his break up with Lambert. Since then, their romance has really taken off, and things have never looked more promising for the country star.
“Here we are a year from now, and [look at] the way things have turned out and how crazy life is sometimes,” Shelton reflected. “You never know who’s in your life that can save your life, and I found that out.”
Considering the strength of their relationship, it only seems logical that Shelton and Stefani will eventually tie the knot. Based on the latest reports, however, it appears as though Stefani has a few more issues to work through before they walk down the aisle.
