In front of thousands of adoring fans, the New Jersey Devils honored hockey legend Martin Brodeur with a statue called “The Salute.” The Devils have also retired Brodeur’s No. 30 jersey tonight.

Some people feel that Martin Brodeur is the greatest goalie of all time.  I am one of them. The New Jersey Devils have been my very favorite hockey team since 1984. I can remember all the highlights and of course, the low lights of those years. We had to deal with Gretzky calling the organization one of Mickey Mouse stature and spent most of the time in the cellar.

In due time, the rewards of being a loyal fan started to take shape. It was because of one man, Martin Brodeur that played such a huge role in the sustained defensive dominance that would propel the Devils to multiple cups and many division titles.

This is dedicated to you Martin Brodeur. This is from all the kids and parents alike who loved to watch you entertain them night after night. We thank you Marty, from all of us.
