Shekira Thompson had arrived from Kingston, Jamaica on February 21 when she was escorted from the inspection area to a private passenger screening room, reported Fox 11.
It wasn’t clear if she was targeted or if the search was random.
In a photo released by the customs agency, the cocaine was tightly packed in a taped enclosure.
“This seizure is just another example of our CBP officers being ever vigilant in protecting the United States from the distribution of these illicit drugs,” said Robert E. Perez, Director of CBP’s New York Field Operations.
The drugs had a street value of $10,000.
Thompson was arrested and charged with narcotics smuggling.
