Quebec schools closed in several cities after bomb threats: police

MONTREAL — (The Canadian Press) –  Police say some schools and educational institutions in different parts of Quebec are shut down as a security precaution.

They say it is in response to bomb threats.

Quebec provincial police say they have opened investigations in several cities but can’t say exactly how many cases they’re dealing with.

Media reports suggest schools are being searched in Western Quebec, in the Abitibi region, and in Sherbrooke.

Sgt. Daniel Thibodeau says it’s too early to say whether the cases are linked.

Thibodeau says he hasn’t received word yet on the outcome of any investigations at specific schools.
