Three people were killed, and four others were injured including a 3-year-old child in a serious accident in the Bronx on Halloween night.
EMS responded to the scene on 936 Morris Park Avenue just before 5 p.m. as children in the neighborhood were trick-or-treating. A black car that was being driven by a 63-year-old man lodged into the front yard of a home after coming through an intersection, attempting to make a left turn. Instead of making a left turn, the car allegedlt swerved and went either through where cars were parked on the street, or where possibly even airborne over another car, striking several people. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
Eyewitness News is told that people ran out to try to help the victims. Some of the victims, and the men from a nearby barbershop were openly weeping because of the gory nature of the accident.
One Eyewitness says she was just a few feet away from getting hit herself.
“There was a family of kids trick-or-treating, walking behind me, and all of a sudden, like a car – I heard the boom,” says Kristina DeJesus, “the car literally jumped over a parked ca and flew into the gate, hitting a bunch of people. She must have sped so fast to jump that curb and fly over a parked car, that she landed on someone.”
One victim died on the scene. A 21-year-old man and a 10-year-old girl died at Jacobi Hospital. A 3-year-old, and two other victims are currently being treated at Jacobi. They are expected to be okay.
