DAD DROPS IN FRONT OF THE TV TO WATCH A PROGRAM(S) AT THE END OF HIS WORK DAY

a) Because he has worked a shift to earn money to support his family

b) Because his wife spent the day cooking and cleaning since this is her job and way to support and contribute to the family so no need to help out when he gets home. The work is done.

c) Because the whole family can watch tv with him since the shows on tv are family friendly. The ones that are not are aired after 9pm when all responsible parents have their children in bed or they have them up in their room reading before going to sleep.

DAD DROPS IN FRONT OF THE TV TO PLAY A VIDEO GAME AT THE END OF HIS WORK DAY

a) Because he has worked a shift to earn money to support his family.

b) Because his wife can do the work even if she has also worked a 8 hour shift as well. (AND just because she does not complain to others about it, she is not happy about it trust me) Just because you drive by and see the lawns cut, the housework done does not mean all as well. Someone could be killing their own health overworking while one kills their health underworking with drop ass symdrome. Obesity perhaps?

c) Because it is his way of escpaing into his fantasy world. Into games that are often not appropriate for children to watch and if they allow them to do so, it gives their children an unrealistic, and it seems to be the trend, a violent and twisted way of seeing society and people. This is in regards to how to treat and engage with members of society.

Now you might say,  BLUNT BETTY, THAT IS NOT FAIR!

Really? It doesn’t have to pertain to you. If it does I am very sorry for your family. If you do not do these things, then good for you! However in the social service field we see the negative effects of gaming and how they FAR outweigh the positive effects. Sorry to burst everyone’s bubble, but the truth hurts.

Oh and as a side note, it is not just men. These roles could be reversed between mom and dad or husband and wife. However stats show that more gamers are men than women,  though women stats are increasing.
