Mai, 3-Legged Tiger, Reportedly Bites The Hand That Tried To Pet Her

On Sunday, a woman allegedly tried to pet a three-legged tiger living at a zoo in Nebraska. And, well, you can guess what police said happened next.

Jacqueline Eide, 33, went to the Omaha Henry Doorly Zoo because she wanted to pet a tiger, according to a media release.

She ended up in hospital with “severe” injuries to her hand after the tiger apparently bit her.

When police met with Eide at Creighton University Medical Center, she was “aggressive” and “showed signs of intoxication,” said the release.

A statement from the zoo said the animal involved in the incident is believed to a three-legged Malayan tiger named Mai.

The animal lost her front leg after she was found caught in a trap, the Omaha World-Herald reported.

Mai will “remain on display as normal and go on about life as usual” despite the incident, the zoo said on Facebook.

Eide, meanwhile, has been cited for trespassing and an investigation has been launched.

As for people who might be feeling inspired to touch a wild animal, police have this warning:

“Just in case you had any doubt… If you pet a tiger you will most likely get bitten.”
