Merle Haggard’s Family Releases What We’ve All Dreaded, Please PRAY!

Merle Haggard’s Family Releases What We’ve All Dreaded, Please PRAY!Merle Haggard has been sick for months now, and fans have been praying for him more than ever. Unfortunately, the news we’ve all dreaded has been realized. Merle’s situation has gotten even worse.

Haggard was diagnosed with cancer in 2008 and hoped that it would be the last of his health struggles for a while. Unfortunately, sast year in December Haggard was forced to POSTPONE several of his December and January tour dates due to illness. He had been hospitalized for a while and hasn’t been able to recover since. He thought he was going to be able to return in February but ended up having to cancel his show on February 2nd last minute.

“I guess I was nearly dead,” Haggard said in a radio interview. “They couldn’t tell whether the cancer had returned or whether I just had pneumonia. They had to wait until they got the pneumonia under control before we could tell, so it’s been kind of a tough couple of weeks.”

Haggard has now had to postpone his March concert dates after his February 13th show in Oakland, California. A member from the audience, Gary Bacon, talked about the show in CA and said that Haggard was not in good health. According to the fan he could barely walk onto the stage. He didn’t need a hand or a cane, but he needed time to get to the mic. He also said that his set was spoken more than sang.

We are sad to hear that Haggard is in such bad health. The good news is that he doesn’t have another show until April 7th. Hopefully this will give him some time to rest and fully recover. Haggard is such a great artist and has been a HUGE part of making country music what it is today.
