Player takes skate blade to throat (Graphic)

Frightening video showing former long time NHLer’s skate slicing through opponents throat.

December 01 2015 was the date of a pretty scary, gruesome scene for hockey fans at the KHL between Slovan and Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk.

Some speculation surrounded this incident where fans claimed the Yugra player, Vitaly Sitnikov died tragically in hospital three days later from his injuries.

SocialMediaMorning.com caught wind of that rumour and did some searching.  Fortunately we learned Sitnikov, with the immediate medical attention he received, helped the incident from becoming a tragedy. It’s amazing we don’t see stuff like that in hockey on a regular basis.

In case you missed it, early in the third period, former long-time NHLer Ladislav Nagy ripped a shot and then fell over Yugra forward Vitaly Sitnikov’s stick. As Nagy fell, his skate came up and caught Sitnikov in the throat.

WARNING: It’s not pretty to watch and there is some blood
