Report: Jays still interested in Encarnacion

Despite signing Kendrys Morales to a three-year, $33 million deal last week, FanRags Sports’ Jon Heyman reports the team remains interested in retaining the Dominican-born slugger.

Heyman believes a similar offer remains on the table to the four-year, $80 million deal the team extended to the three-time All-Star prior to inking Morales.

The offer is a similar deal to that of Red Sox first baseman Hanley Ramirez, who signed a four year $88 million deal with Boston two years ago.

Encarnacion rejected the Jays’ one-year, $17.2 million qualifying offer before the Nov. 14 deadline.
