Rory Feek prepares to bury wife Joey: I’m ‘making plans that i hoped we would never have to make

Rory Feek Heartbreak: Forced To Make Funeral Plans For Joey After Her Tragic DeathFollowing Joey Feek’s death from cancer on Friday, the country singer’s husband Rory has begun preparations to lay her to rest.

“[I’m] making plans that I hoped we would never have to make,” Rory, 50, captioned an Instagram of their sprawling farm in Pottsville, Tennessee, on Sunday.

Here, Rory will grant one of his wife’s dying wishes: to be buried at the family’s farm house. In November, Rory revealed on his blog This Life I Live that Joey asked for her casket to be a “rough-cut wooden box with a cross on it” made from “wood at the farm.”

“And find a good spot in the family cemetery in the field behind our house, where we put your mama’s ashes last year,” Rory said Joey told him. “[Leave] room enough beside my headstone for you to join me someday… in God’s time.”

Rory traveled to Tennessee from Joey’s hometown of Alexandria, Indiana, where she chose to spend the last months of her life in hospice care while surrounded by loved ones. Upon returning to the couple’s home on Saturday – where the country and gospel duo known as Joey+Rory once performed concerts for fans on their backyard stage – Rory broke his silence by sharing photos of the couple’s daughter, Indiana, 2.

“Reunited,” he captioned a photo of his little girl with her pals on Sunday. “Indy’s happy to see her best friend Scout (and Scouty’s little brother Ash).”

One day before, the grieving widower gave Indy a piggyback ride while petting their horses. He wrote of the snap, “Home.”
